When I found out a few weeks ago that The Twin was going to make a come back to Nag Nag Nag's closing party my first thought was, what a shame! Nag Nag Nag was closing but I just couldn't wait to see him singing live again.
As some of you might know Nag Nag Nag was the very first club The Twin performed in 2002 and was also the first time I went there. I loved the venue and music even though some people would described it as a hole in the ground, the only thing I never liked was some of the crowd who didn't and still don't know the meaning of good manners and respect for other people but enough of me complaining... lol!
We arrived around 9.30pm for the early opening party and we were greeted by Jonny Slut (one of Nag Nag Nag's promoters) who I must say what a nice and friendly guy he is. He gave us a couple of copies of their Nag Nag Nag limited edition cd specially made for the occasion with some fantastic electro tracks, but what a shame the cd doesn't have anything by The Twin like the cd they gave away at the 2002 Christmas party which featured the fabulous "Don't Go Dragging Me Down". The party was great and we saw some people we hadn't seen for years like Mikko who is still mad as a hatter... in a nice way.
Soon after they opened the doors to the general public I met Kerstin who by the way I had never had the chance to chat with long enough to get to know her, and I think she is such a beautiful and friendly girl. While chatting to Kerstin, the always smiling Nicole arrived looking very glamorous in her little black dress and high heels.
It was about midnight when we decided it was time to get nearer the small stage and saw Juliya already there... another lovely girl and so tiny! I felt like giving her a "bear" hug but she would have run away I think, lol! I told her she remind me of Madonna... don't ask me why but she does.
At around 1am Boy George's brother Kevin and John Themis came to the stage to arrange some stuff... so we knew Boy George was about to make an appearance... we were not wrong... he came soon after and to our delight he played a few records. As always Mike Nicholls was fiming Boy George but there was also a camera crew filming the event...?
When Jonny Slut introduced him everyone started to cheer and Boy George came out looking fabulous as ever in his Leigh Bowery twineske make-up. He looked very happy and cheerful and although there were a few failed attempts to play the right backing track it didn't ruin his good mood and made a few funny comments.
He first sung "Turn To Dust" then Jonny Slut came out and together they performed a fantastic version of The Sweet's "Teenage Rampage" and the crowd went berserk. To our surprise he announced that Pete Burns was in the Dj booth.
As soon as they finished they all went to the vip room and I was invited in by Jonny Slut to take a few pictures and there they were Boy George chatting to Pete Burns and the camera crew filming it. When I was taking the pictures George was telling Pete to look-up but he was being very shy and wouldn't do it... I don't know why as he looked great!
Happy and grateful with my pictures and a night out to remember we left.
A short but great show... surely I night I won't forget anytime soon.
Now the gossip...
As we were heading to Soho we bumped into the camera crew who were filming the event. I asked them why were they filming it and they told me they work for Living TV and they were filming him for a few weeks for a tv special about him titled "Living With Boy George" and will be shown in September this year.
